Hampton Bay Windward II, 54" Ceiling Fan - Failed Again

Okay, I understand "Limited Lifetime Warranty", I understand profit & loss what I don't understand is how an intricate part of this fan is not covered under the Lifetime part of the warranty?

The fan will not operate and there is no alternative way to turn it on, no wall switches, pull chains or otherwise. Essentialy its just a big 54" useless collection of metal, wire and plastic hanging on my ceiling and the failure is not covered under the warranty.

Now, this is bad enough but almost six months after the fan was installed the exact same thing happened. I had to remove the fan and return it to the store for an exchange because there where no parts available.

The fan is in a very moderate use environment and sees absolutely no harsh conditions. It has a stable electrical feed, solid mounting and so on. No reason why it should have failed in such a way and without warning.

The store has no solution, in fact I know more about how the fan functions then the department associate whose only recommendation was to replace the fan.

So now I am stuck with a fan that will not function and faced with the question of replacing it with another Hampton Bay product or another brand say from Lowe's or otherwise.

Does anyone have any suggestions or practical input, such as where to get a new controller and/or receiver exactly as the original item or where and what brand to buy that might have a better Warranty/Support policy?

Tks,

Dave S.

I actually have the exact same problem with this exact same model. I believe the problem is with the motor controller box inside the main housing. I'm not sure if this is a replaceable part or not. Do you have a part number for this component?

Same here, but I have two of them and after spending a fortune to fix one, now the other one is useless. Both in same room, so now have to replace both. Screw Home Depot fixtures. Absolutely useless. Big rip-off. Products names make cheaper versions for only Home Depot. Never again.

Nicki_Care@homedepot.com Funny I couldn't get the same offer. I have two that were installed in July 2006 and have not been working since December. Can you help?

Re: Hampton Bay Windward II, 54" Ceiling Fan - Failed Again

This is a reply directed to all customers having issues with this fan:

I will be happy to assist, but each individual customer must email their contact information & the UPC from the top of the motor housing sticker for us to assist. There has been several versions of the Windward and made by more than one manufacturer. The manufacturer of each version holds the parts/provides the tech support for this fan.

There should be parts still available for this fan, but there are no parts sold in store, due to space limitations.

If anyone needing assistance will please email this information, I'd be happy to help. Picture attached shows where the sticker is located. Thanks.
