While attempting to install a light fixture on our Hampton Bay fan, a loose wire touched the metal base. A loud pop and not the fan doesn't work at all. Do we have to replace the entire ceiling fan or is this just a part replacement? Appreciate any help. We installed another light which went just fine!

Hello carolr and welcome to The Community! We are glad that you are here.
Since the second light fixture is fine, it seems like you may need a replacement part. I spoke with Hampton Bay Customer Service and they need more information to identify your ceiling fan and help the troubleshooting process.
There should be another sticker on top of the motor housing with a 12 digit UPC code (all numbers – no letters). If you still have the packaging – there is a 6 digit SKU (numerical) from the side of the box. The 12 digit UPC code or 6 digit SKU will identify the exact manufacturer and model of the fan. Once the ceiling fan is identified, we can recommend further action and the correct replacement part(s).
The Hampton Bay Customer Service team can be directly reached at 1-877-527-0313 (option 2) for fastest assistance. Best wishes and thank you for joining our discussions.
