August - Fire Safety

[ Edited ]

 firesafetyban.PNG

This August we will be holding a workshop to help you get yourself and your house prepared for Fire Safety!

Every Saturday from 1-2 pm you can stop on by your local store to find out how. Some of the things we will be covering are:

  • Learn how to prevent fires and identify the best locations for installing smoke alarms in the home
  • Determine how to detect smoke, fire or carbon monoxide
  • Learn how to use a fire extinguisher and where to store it in the home
  • Identify the safety measures that help prevent fires and an escape plan for your home

Reply back in this thread with any questions or comments you have about the class, or feel free to ask the associate running the class. Enjoy = )

Re: August - Fire Safety

I was wondering if my 7-year old can come to me with this, he is very good, and smart, and I would love him to hear all of the advice, I was wondering about if he can come to the other workshops also, he is very interested and I would bring his game system ( with headphones) for if he became bored.  I just don't have a weekend babysitter, but I do have alot of projects around my house that I want to learn how to do!

Re: August - Fire Safety

Hello lacydill and welcome to Home Depot’s how-to Community!

Of course your son is welcome to attend the fire safety workshop with you.

One activity he may find especially fun is the “fire hazard hunt” where potentially hazardous conditions are (safely) demonstrated for all to find.

Please keep us updated on your projects, we’re here to help.

Newf.

Re: August - Fire Safety

Hey there lacydill,

Absolutely! Like my friend Newf mentioned, he is more than welcome to come. Never too early to start learning about things like this. I used to go all the time to How-To clinics when I was his age with my grandfather (and I brought my game system too ;D)

We look forward to seeing both you and your DIY'er-in-training there!
