New homeowner with plenty green and little experience

Hello All,

We closed on our home in late Jan and didn't have the opportunity to treat the lawn with a pre-emergent. My husband sprayed the lawn with the Ortho Weed B Gon plus Crabgrass Control yesterday morning. Should we water the lawn today? Also, he didn't get to treat every area of the lawn or yard, can we purchase more bottles and continue the treatment?

Any and all advice is welcomed.

Thanks.

Hello fancysmiley,

Welcome to the site!:smileyvery-happy: Great picture of your lawn!

I would not spray the lawn again for at least a week, and then make sure that you water the day before you spray, the weeds will grow faster and die faster. If  the weather is cool there, don't worry if the spray takes a bit longer to work, cooler weather will slow things down but they will still work.

Two weeks after the last spray, use a good fertilizer such as Scotts Lawn fertilizer, with a drop spreader for better accuracy, then water for at least 30 minutes. As your lawn thickens up, you should have less problems with the weeds coming up.

Hope this helps,
