Hello I'm trying to pick out a good color to paint my daughters room and I have no idea what would be a good color!!!! Her room is VERY small and I would like a light blue or any other light color to make the room appear bigger!!! I want to be able to decorate with any other color and I thought blue would be good!!! Any other recommendations????

Hello Lily and welcome to The Community! We are glad that you are here.
Congratulations on your upcoming paint project – I am sure that your daughter will appreciate her room transformation! You are right – light colors will make the room appear larger and light blue is a lovely first choice. Fortunately we have lots of help at The Home Depot.
First, do your “homework!” Since this is your daughter’s room, see if she has a particular color that she enjoys. It may be from a toy, an article of clothing – even a school color.
Second, you can select a color from looking at the palette on your computer monitor, matching a color through an iPhone app, or taking an object to scan at our in-store kiosk.
* You can test out the colors on your monitor before you even get to the store! Behr has a great tool, ColorSmart, which can help you select the best paint color to match your desired colored.
(The colors may appear slightly different on your monitor but this is a great way to start the color selection process.) Go to Behr’s website (www.behr.com) and create a Workbook. Start by selecting a “main” color (such as a light blue). Following the prompts, the ColorSmart visualizer will do the rest – creating 8 color combinations. You can select a sample room - or upload a photo of your current room through Paint Your Place - to view the combinations that look best to you! The Workbook will save your selections for future use.
* Behr Mobile has a free ColorSmart app for iPhones. You can take a photo of a favorite color, and then preview, match, and coordinate colors from your iPhone. (You can download the app from www.Behr.com.)
* If your daughter has a favorite object, you can take it to the store and use the color matching kiosk. If the sample is small, awkward, or difficult to scan, our Paint Associates can help you.
Third, every Saturday in February there will be a Paint Clinic at 10:00 am in your local Home Depot store. A Paint Associate will lead the hands-on workshop and can help you with your paint selections (color, sheen, etc.). You will also learn how to prepare the walls before you paint and how to keep the fabulous color for years to come.
Please keep us posted on your selections – and we’d LOVE to see photos of your finished transformation. Best wishes!
