We have light oak cabinets in our kitchen now and want the espresso look. We purchased the dark color kit. Do we need to go back to the store and have them mix the bond coat to the espresso color for us??

Absolutely Capullium!
The kit contains quarts of base that must be tinted before application.
Without tinting, they would appear as see-through gray on your surface.
Go back through the Service Desk so they can mark the product paid, then see your Paint Associate for assistance.
Good luck with your cabinets!

I have now started the final phase of the transformation kit...the sealant, but I am at a cross-roads: the sealant is a bit too dull on the chocolate finish (I am using this project on a real-wood bedroom set). Can I go over the kit's Sealant with a different polyurethane that provides a high-gloss finish?
Thank you so much for your help.

Yes you can.
Stick with a water based polyurethane likeMINWAX Polycrilyc. Make sure you don't apply the coat too thick because it could possibly dry with a slight haze. Two thin coats are better.
Hope this helps

Any water based poly will work just fine for you. At Home Depot we offer the Minwax Polycrylic in a high gloss and Parks Waterbased Polyurethane. Wait at least 8 hours before you apply polyurethane.
It takes about 12 hours for the poly to set completely, after that you should be able to handle your finished piece without fear of messing up the finish.
As far as the streaks, you will want to sand them away, being careful not to disrupt the color underneath.
Good Luck with your project!

We have linen cabinets with Luanne plywood fronts on the doors. One of the door needs a hole patched. I was wondering if you could use this product on a cabinet that would have varying surfaces. If so, what would be the best product to perform the repair on a Dark stained cabinet?

Hello Jewels!
Yes, this product will work on your surfaces after the repair!
The "bonding coat" in the kit is essentially a primer coat that bonds to well-prepared surfaces.
The repair should be done with either a water-base or solvent-base wood filler ... found at The Paint Pit at your local store.
Ask you Paint Associate to show you Plastic Wood (solvent) and Elmer's Wood Filler (water).
The advantage of Elmer's WF is low-odor, easy to clean up, and covers easily with the bonding coat included in the kit.
The advantages of Plastic Wood are increased strength and durability of the repair. If you choose this product, you will need to use an oil-base primer before you apply the bonding coat.
Both products come in colors, so select the one that is most similar to your new color.
Finally, use a 100-grit or 150-grit sandpaper to smooth the repair and then switch to a 220-grit for your final sanding.
NOTE: This kit includes an instructional DVD. Take time to review the instruction and make certain anyone else involved in the project does the same ... these instructions will help ensure your success!
