It is time to turn the clocks ahead this weekend and we will lose an hour of sleep. At 2 am on Sunday, March 11, 2012, most of us will turn our clocks “forward” one hour, marking the beginning of Daylight Saving Time (DST). The fine folks in Hawaii and Arizona (except those in the Navajo Nation) as well as those in Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Guam, and American Samoa will stay on their standard time.
This is a friendly reminder that once again we will need to check the smoke detector batteries and change ALL the clocks. Spend a few extra minutes checking the batteries in your flashlights, garage door opener remote controls, carbon monoxide detector, door bell (chimes), and back-up security systems.
Since spring is nearly here, go the extra mile and check the furnace and air filters. Consider picking up an extra filter as a pre-emptive strike against the pollen and dander that is coming with the early spring weather that we are experiencing.
Happy Daylight Saving Time y’all!
