Good Day Total Novice!
I love your screen name!
You know we all started as total novices and learned by listening to others, asking questions, and then putting our hands on the materials and installing them.
I am linking THD's page to one color of Allure TrafficMaster. There you will see the description and specifications, but click the tab that says Reviews. You will notice a repeating theme in the words of those that have installed this floor: 1) It is easy to install ... expect to hear the clicking sound when the pieces snap together, and 2) It is durable and also quiet ... not making that "clickety" sound one reviewer associates with other manufacturers' floors.
Of particular interest to you, one review said, "I like it because it doesn't scratch from our small dog and cat living inside, cleans easily, and has cut down on allergies ..."
Go to The Store and ask your Flooring Associate to show you how the pieces click together and if you want to DIY, have them show you the tools you'll need.
NOTE: This is a "floating floor" that will install over most subfloors. If possible, be prepared to discuss the subfloor in your home. This will help your Flooring Associate provide you a complete overview of the project.
